Handle with Care campaignEvery week, hundreds of millions of farm animals endure journeys, sometimes lasting days, weeks or months, in cramped conditions on their way to slaughter.
WhalingWith no option for humane slaughter, WSPA calls for a stop to all commercial whaling. Visibility, sea swells and movements of the boat and whale make it impossible to assure a lethal shot at sea.
Who we areWSPA’s vision is of a world where animal welfare matters, and animal cruelty ends. Commercial exploitation of wildlife – intensive farming and the cruel management and killing of wild animals for food or by-products.
Pigs of GodPigs of God is a cruel contest where pigs are force-fed to become as heavy as possible before being publicly slaughtered and paraded through the streets for a festival procession.
Factory farmingWSPA is working to end factory farming by raising awareness, establishing local coalitions and promoting and demonstrating humane alternatives. Factory farms are also characterised by forced growth rates, which cause the animals terrible suffering.
Dog meat tradeThe good news is that recent South Korean opinion polls – where animal welfare is a relatively new concept – suggest that the consumption of dogs is losing popularity, especially with the younger generation.

Poverty and factory farmingFactory farming was once promoted as a way to provide cheap and plentiful protein. Factory farms are highly mechanised, which means they contribute to rural unemployment and migration to urban areas.
