WSPA's Work

WSPA’s animal welfare programmes include a mix of direct fieldwork, campaigning, education, training and member society development.

WildlifeWildlife

The WSPA wildlife programme seeks to address the suffering of wild animals as a result of commercial exploitation.

This includes the inhumane killing of wild animals for meat and products, capture of animals from the wild for live trade and the welfare of wild species in captivity.

Companion AnimalsCompanion Animals

Companion and working animals benefit people in all cultures of the world, helping with agriculture, food, motive power and emotional wellbeing.

WSPA is helping to improve the status of companion, stray and working animals throughout the world.

Farm AnimalsFarm Animals

In response to the sheer scale of the farm animal welfare problem, WSPA’s Farmwatch campaign was launched.

Working with fellow organisations around the globe, we aim to reverse the spread of intensive factory farming, long distance transportation and inhumane animal slaughter.

Disaster ReliefDisaster Relief

Historically, WSPA has taken an early lead in many disaster situations and brought relief to thousands of animal victims.

Emergency aid is provided through rescue missions, feeding programmes and veterinary support.

EducationEducation

Our Humane Education Programme brings new ideas about animal welfare to thousands of children.

WSPA‘s Concepts in Animals Welfare programme is introducing a new way of thinking to students at veterinary colleges.

LegislationLegislation

Credible, properly enforced legal protection is essential to the protection of all animals throughout the world.

Through our initiative for a Universal Declaration for animal welfare, WSPA are urging the world‘s governments to officially recognise that animal welfare is an issue of common concern and importance.
