January 2009: To celebrate the first anniversary of WPSA Asia’s Thai office opening, HRH Princess Soamsawali presented WPSA ambassador and television star, Por Thrissadee Sahawong, with a certificate of appreciation at Suan Kularb Palace, Bangkok.
Since the Thai office was established in late 2007, Por Thrissadee Sahawong has worked with WSPA Asia to promote animal welfare and help spread anti-cruelty messages; he was honoured by the Princess for his contribution.
On receiving the certificate, he said: “It is my great honour to be here to meet the Princess and I’m proud to be a part of WSPA. I will always support WSPA’s work, let people know how important of animal welfare is and encourage people to stop cruelty to animals.”
Focus on animal welfare in Asia
The high-profile meeting, also attended by WSPA Asia staff, helped raise awareness of WSPA’s achievements in 2008 and our plans for the rest of 2009.
Peter Williams, WSPA Asia regional director, said “The Princess allowing us to meet her at her palace is a great opportunity to create awareness what we have done in the last year.”
“Based on our performances in Asian region, we are confident that WSPA can create greater knowledge and understanding of animal welfare among public. We have been able to provide assistance to abandoned and cruelly treated animals and reduce their numbers.”
Looking forward, he added: “At WSPA Asia, we are determined to work hard and campaign for better animal welfare.”
